Have you ever heard that chewing ginger during cardiac arrest is helpful? Some videos circulating online are claiming this. In today’s era, we see many such posts on various social media platforms, but we find it hard to decide which to believe and which to not. So, whenever such videos or posts appear it is better to not believe them blindly. It is very important to verify the facts from experts before believing such claims. A heart attack is a very serious ailment that can be fatal for a human being. It occurs when our heart is unable to pump blood properly. If the patient is not given proper treatment in time then it can lead to death. Such serious issues should not be ignored. Today, we will find out whether cheering ginger can really help you to combat heart attack.

According to a media report, Dr Sudhir Kumar, a consultant neurologist at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad, stated that there is no research done till date that claims that chewing ginger can help you combat sudden heart attack. There is no proven evidence for this statement. He mentioned that in medical science, aspirin is the recommended medicine which can be used if a person suffers a sudden heart attack.

Dr Sudhir stated that a person experiencing a heart attack should take the medicine immediately. He said, “You should not wait for the hospital to give the medicine. Rather aspirin should be given to a patient immediately if he/she faces a heart attack. It is crucial to visit a doctor but giving aspirin immediately can highly increase the survival chance of the patient.”

Commenting on the claim, Dr Subhendu Mohanty stated that all such claims are false. In a media interview, he said, “No, please there is no truth to this claim. The life-saving thing that you can do at home is to take a 300mg tablet of Aspirin. Then travel to the hospital. The rest of the treatment will be done by the hospital.”
