Alia Bhatt posted a video on her Instagram stories, showing her workout session at the gym with trainer Sohrab Khushrushahi. In the video, she is seen performing weighted hip thrusts while her trainer observes her technique. She captioned the post, “Sundays are for leg day.” Over the weekend, Alia Bhatt focused on training her legs. She engaged in weighted hip thrusts, an exercise that targets the gluteus maximus (the body’s largest muscle), hamstrings, quadriceps, and adductors. Alia executed the exercise by lying on a bench, positioning a barbell loaded with 20 kg weights on each side over her hips, and performing thrusts by contracting her glutes and pushing the barbell upwards. The video clip showed her completing four repetitions of the exercise.
Weighted hip thrusts are widely regarded for their multifaceted benefits across various aspects of fitness and health. Primarily, they are renowned for their ability to effectively strengthen the gluteal muscles, which include the gluteus maximus, medius, and minimus. These muscles are crucial not only for aesthetics, but also for functional movements such as walking, running, and jumping. In addition to sculpting the glutes, weighted hip thrusts promote improved hip mobility. This is essential for maintaining proper range of motion in everyday activities and exercises, preventing stiffness and discomfort. Better hip mobility can also enhance performance in sports and athletic endeavours, allowing for more powerful and efficient movement patterns.
Engaging in weighted hip thrusts can lead to notable improvements in lower body performance. The exercise strengthens not only the glutes but also the hamstrings, quadriceps, and adductors, thereby enhancing overall lower body strength and endurance.
Alia Bhatt has wrapped up filming for her upcoming movie, Jigra. Earlier this year, in January, Sanjay Leela Bhansali made an unexpected announcement about his next film titled Love and War, starring Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt. Additionally, she is set to appear in an action franchise under Yash Raj Films in the future.
