Welcome to Waikiki 2 star Kim Seon Ho is facing criticism after he recently expressed gratitude to Nam Joo-hyuk during an appearance on By PDC channel’s YouTube show. The episode, shot as Kim Seon Ho headed to a theatre performance in Daehak-ro, Seoul, saw him acknowledging the strong friendship with his former co-star from Start-Up. While carefully avoiding discussions about his personal life controversy, Kim Seon Ho credited Nam Joo Hyuk for providing him with much-needed strength during challenging times. He further praised him for acting like an older brother when needed. However, this appreciation has sparked a backlash from fans, particularly as Nam Joo Hyuk is currently embroiled in bullying allegations.
In one of the segments, when Kim Seon Ho was discussing the importance of having a supportive circle, he thanked Nam Joo Hyuk for standing by him during tough times. He said, “It’s really important who you surround yourself with because I met with great people who gave me such a positive influence. An example would be actor Nam Joo-hyuk. I bumped into him later on after the show and he hugged me without a word. At that moment, he felt like an older brother.”
Despite Seon Ho’s intention to spread positivity and support Nam Joo Hyuk amid his controversy, his words backfired, according to The Qoo. Kim faced backlash from his own fans, as many were unimpressed, considering Kim is currently dealing with a bullying allegation case himself.
A user wrote, “I wonder if they met before or after the Nam Joo-hyuk controversy,” while another wondered, “There must be something in common.” One more wrote, “I met him by chance, but he’s selling me off as his best friend. LOL If I can’t ridicule him, I’ll be very sick.”
Meanwhile, in the same interview, Kim Seon Ho also thanked the director Oh Chung-hwan and other team members of his previous shows for their support. He shared, “Life has been pretty great so far. The director (of Start Up) also came to see me on stage despite his busy schedule. Not only him, but the writers, too. They’re all truly my saviours. That includes the people I worked with previously. They’re the ones who made who I am today. I also met with the director of Hometown Cha Cha Cha not long ago at the backstage after performing on stage. He was also impressed by my fellow actors so I said, ‘They’ll be great for your next project’ and recommended them to him. That’s what I love about this field and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Apart from theatre, Kim Seon Ho is set for a small screen return in The Tyrant, as reported by K Drama Stars. The actor will share the screen with veteran stars Cha Seung Won and Kim Kang Woo in the series, which is expected to feature four episodes. Additionally, there are discussions about him making a special appearance in the highly anticipated drama You Have Done Well, featuring IU and Park Bo Gum. Kim Seon-ho is also confirmed to reunite with former Welcome to Waikiki 2 co-star Moon Ga Young in Daesung’s upcoming music video.
