Claudia Kim’s unbelievable transformation for the upcoming television series The Atypical Family has caught the attention of the masses. The South Korean actress, who will be playing the role of Bok Dong-hee, a retired runway model, who has gained a few pounds for her character through “special makeup”. On April 14, the makers dropped a few pictures on Instagram, featuring Claudia Kim in her first-ever plus-size avatar. Directed by SKY Castle fame Cho Hyun-tak, The Atypical Family is scheduled to premiere on the JTBC channel on May 4.
In the first still, Claudia Kim as Bok Dong-hee was captured holding a large packet of potato chips. She tucked one piece on her finger, presumably to eat it. The actress looked unrecognisable, with a fuller face, broad shoulders, and extra weight around her waist. The following slide offered a glimpse of Bok Dong-hee, probably during her modelling days when she was fit and skinny. The last click gave viewers a speculative hint of Bok Dong-hee’s mental condition, where she seemed sad and teary-eyed.

Speaking about her character, Claudia Kim in a statement revealed that Bok Dong-hee was a person whom everyone “looks up to”, quoted Soompi. Despite the stress of gaining weight and dealing with inner conflicts, she refrains from comparing herself to others, trying to be a “better person” and confident in her skin.
Claudia Kim added that it was her first time attempting “special makeup”. “The process was more challenging than I thought. But after seeing how Bok Dong Hee is depicted in the scenes, I feel grateful as an actress that my character is enriched,” she said.
