THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate governments the Zero Waste Sabarimala Project at Sabarimala on the sand-bed of Pampa at 9 a.m on Monday. The project is a massive cleaning drive with the participation of people and various organisations undertaken  prior to the Mandalam-Makaravilakku season. Ministers V S Sivakumar, K M Mani, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Adoor Prakash, V K Ebrahim Kunju, K B Ganesh Kumar, MPs Anto Antony and P T Thomas and MLA Raju Abraham will attend. It is for the first time that such a massive project is being implemented at   Sabarimala for cleaning the area. Over 3000 big and small voluntary service organisations, including Amritanandamayi Math, Sathyasai Seva Samithi, National Service Scheme, Brahmakumaris and Ayyappa Seva Sangham will participate in the drive. The expenditure of the programme is estimated  at  Rs 5 crore. Bailey Bridge LaunchChandy will also inaugurate the new Bailey Bridge and footpath constructed at Sabarimala on Monday at 3 p.m.Meanwhile, the Railways on Sunday reviewed preparations made for the convenience of the pilgrims at the Kottayam railway station. As Kottayam is one of the gateways to the shrine, the Railways would introduce more facilities for parking vehicles, would beef up the security by posting more police officers and would set up RPF-bunks at the platform, Trivandrum Division manager, Rajesh Agarwal said.
