HYDERABAD: In yet another incident of theft at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) parking lot, an elderly woman from Dubai was relieved of her hand bag reportedly containing 15 tola gold ornaments, 11,000 Dinars and Rs 6,000 cash early Wednesday morning. The woman had gone to a nearby vending machine to get a bottle of soft drink and had left her hand bag on the luggage trolley when it was stolen, police said.RGIA police inspector R Sanjay Kumar said the 55-year-old woman Bilkisal- Attar lives in Dubai and had come to Hyderabad to meet her mother who resides at Toli Chowki. She got down her flight at 3 a.m. and went to the parking lot.There, she went to the vending machine to get a soft drink. "It took a little time for the machine to deliver the bottle. When she returned, she found the bag missing," Sanjay Kumar said.Police said that though surveillance cameras were in place at the parking lot, it would be a difficult task to narrow down on the accused."Nearly 10 flights arrive at the airport during the early morning hours and there would be thousands of people in the parking lot," a police officer said.RGIA police registered a case of theft and are investigating.This is the second incident of theft in RGIA parking lot recently. In January, a couple from Abu Dhabi were relieved of a bag containing 18 tola gold, 120 dollars and their passports. The theft took place when they put the bag in the front seat of their car and were arranging luggage in the rear seat.
