Wanted by CBI: A new chief
The CBI director Uma Shankar Mishra is retiring. As CBI has big cases with it, the big question is who will be the next CBI chief.

New Delhi: As the current CBI director Uma Shankar Mishra is retiring, there is confusion about who will be the next CBI chief.

During Mishra's tenure, his biggest achievement was bringing back Abu Salem to India.

With time running out fast, the government is yet to decide on the matter and it might resolve the issue by appointing an acting director.

Two additional directors, M L Sharma handling the Abu Salem case and D Mukherjee handling Lalu Prasad Yadav's fodder case and Mayawati's disproportionate assets case, have threatened to go on leave.

Moreover, five joint directors also have decided to go on leave.

However, it is rumoured that the third additional director J K Dutt is willing to take the CBI director post.

If J K Dutt gets the post, the other two additional directors plan to go on leave.

Five other joint directors have already drafted their leave letters.

Mukherjee, with more than 30 years of experience, is also in the race for the CBI chief post.

The big question arises what will happen to the apex investigation agency in the country, what will happen to high profile cases like Abu Salem and the defence deals?

What's your reaction?
