VS not sincere on dam issue, says Pillai

PALAKKAD:  Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan was not sincere on the Mullaperiyar issue as he had not shown the resolve to build a new dam when he was in power, Kerala Congress (B) leader R Balakrishna Pillai has said.Addressing mediapersons here on Sunday, Pillai said that  Achuthanandan as chief minister never visited Chappath, where an agitation for a new dam has been going on for the past several years. Achuthanandan, who was losing ground in his own party, was trying to gain upper hand by raking up the Mullaperiyar issue.Balakrishna Pillai  said it was not good for the Congress ministers in the UDF to speak in different voices on the Mullaperiyar dam issue. Kerala should have only one voice on the issue, he added.
