A couple lost a total of Rs 5 lakh after their children secretly spent the money playing online betting games. Initially, the children blamed hackers for the theft. However, their secret was revealed when their father consulted their income tax lawyer.
The loss of Rs 5 lakh came to the parents’ attention when the father, Chandrashekhar Singh, went to the bank to withdraw some cash. When Singh submitted the cash withdrawal form to the cashier, he was informed that he had insufficient balance in his account. It was then discovered that Rs 3.5 lakh was missing from his account.
When Singh checked his wife’s account, he discovered that Rs 1.5 lakh was missing as well. Upon questioning his sons, Aditya Singh (in Class 7) and Ansh Singh (in Class 8), they claimed that a hacker must have stolen the money. The children’s secret activity was ultimately revealed when Singh took the details of their bank accounts from his lawyer.
The incident took place at Khadda police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar.
