Left parties today urged Mayawati govt to streamline intelligence network.

New Delhi: Taking a serious note of the serial bomb blasts in three cities of Uttar Pradesh, in which three people were killed and over 45 injured, the Left parties today urged the Mayawati government to streamline intelligence network in the state and stressed that the investigations into the terror incidents should not be ''one-track''.

Demanding stern punishment for those responsible, the Leftists said it was primarily the duty of the state government to contain terrorists who were out to dismember communal harmony in the country.

Serial blasts rocked district courts in Lucknow, Faizabad and Varanasi today. CPI leaders A B Bardhan and Shamim Faizi said it was obviously the handiwork of the forces who were hell bent upon creating communal tension in the country.

''It also reflects on the failure of the intelligence agencies,'' Mr Bardhan said. Besides, the investigation in all these three incidents should not be ''one-track'', the CPI leaders added. CPI-M senior leader and Polit Bureau member M K Pandhe said any attempt by fundamentalist forces to disturb harmony should be fought with all the might by the government as well as the civil society.

''It is essentially the responsibility of the state government to contain terrorism with law and order being a state subject,'' Mr Pandhe added.

CPI National Secretary Shamim Faizi emphasised that all those try to drive political mileage out of such incidents should be probed for their role into them.
