ERODE: Children who are fed at noon-meal centres in the State have something more to cheer. Unlike in the past, when they used to get just one set of uniform, they will be receiving four sets from this year, thanks to the AIADMK Government.As promised during the polls, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who has been fulfilling the assurances one after the other, has issued an order to this effect.Sources said that usually placing of orders for production of cloth would begin by April. But this year, due to poll code, the work was delayed.The present government, a few days back, issued orders for procurement of cloth to handlooms and textiles department which would place orders to co-op societies across the State. After this the procured cloth would be processed in the TN Co-op Textile Processing Mill, Erode. Then the cloth would be given to women co-op tailoring societies, functioning under the social welfare department in each district for stitching and later it would be distributed. So, it will take a few more months to supply uniforms.
