CHENNAI: The State government has formed a six-member panel to hold talks with an expert committee appointed by the Centre on the proposed Koodankulam nuclear plant to find a solution to the impasse, according to highly place sources in the PMO.R Selvaraj, Tirunelveli District Collector, will be the convenor of the group. The other members on the panel include Vijayendra Bidari, Superintendent of Police, Tirunelveli, Fr Yvon Ambrose, Bishop of Tuticorin Diocese, M P Jesuraj, a parish priest of Cheranmadevi and M Pushparayan, who runs an NGO Coastal People’s Trust. Jesuraj and Pushparayan are the representatives of the protestors.Meanwhile, the Chairman, Department of Atomic Energy, Srikumar Banerjee, called up Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Devendranath Sarangi on Thursday. Banerjee, along with Nuclear Power Corporation Chairman S K Jain will fly down to Chennai on Friday to meet Sarangi, DAE sources told Express. The meeting is expected to work out the modalities of the eventual interaction between the State and the Central committees.
