On August 12, 1990: SPS Rathode then IG allegedly molests Ruchika in his office.

September 3, 1990: an Inquiry report indicts Rathore.

September 20, 1990: Ruchika expelled from school for 'indiscipline' charge which an inquiry has now found the school wrongfully expelled her.

October 23, 1993: Ruchika's brother Ashu was arrested in several theft cases, later found to be false, he is repeatedly tortured he says in a report.

December 28, 1993: Ruchika commits suicide by consuming a poisonous substance.

November 1994: Rathore gets promoted. No action on Inquiry report.

August 21, 1998: High Court directs CBI to conduct inquiry.

November 17, 2000: CBI files chargesheet against SPS Rathore.

December 21, 2009: Court convicts Rathore, gives him six month RI, fines him Rs 1,000.

December 29, 2009: Two fresh FIRs filed against Rathore for tampering post-mortem report and torturing Ashu Girhotra.

December 29, 2009: On the same day a PIL is filed pushing for death sentence for Rathore.

December 31, 2009: Ashu Girhotra files complaint against Rathore for abetment of suicide.

January 1st, 2010: Interim bail was granted to Rathore.

January 5, 2010: A fresh FIR is filed for abetment of suicide against Rathore, following complaint from Ashu Girhotra.

January 5, 2010: Haryana government also seeks transfer of case to the CBI.

January 5, 2010: Fresh FIR under Section 306 against Rathore.

January 5, 2010: Haryana government seeks transfer of case to CBI.
