THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have arrested three people in connection with the murder of gangster Kannadi Shaji. Jayalal, 25, of Chellamangalam; Suresh Kumar, 24, of Vanchiyoor and Krishnendu, 23, of Paravoor, were arrested by a special police team led by Cantonment AC Haridas from a hide-out in the city. According to police, Jayalal was directly involved in the action along with Sanish and Krishna Kumar. When the investigation intensified the accused went to Kollam where they were sheltered by Krishnendu. He also helped the assailants to flee to Bangalore. In Bangalore the gang was picked up by Kannan alias Suresh Kumar who provided them with shelter and assisted in changing hide-outs. Suresh Kumar is a close companion of Ambalamukku Krishna Kumar and was accused in the murder of BJP activist Ranjith at Mannanthala. The arrest was effected after DCP Rajpal Meena was tipped-off about the meeting of the three at a secret location to bail out Krishna Kumar and Sanish, who are in prison. The three have been remanded to judicial custody.
