Three Bangalore techies drown in Chennai

CHENNAI: A Sunday evening at the beach turned tragic for three software engineers from Bangalore, when they were swept away by waves off Thiruvanmiyur coast. Police identified the victims as G Praveen (21) of Gayathri Nagar in Bangalore, D Sakthi (21) of Somavarpet near Kudagu and N Anand Bhushan (21) of Senrayapatinam in Hasan district.Police said the victims drowned when they tried to retrieve a tennis ball floating on the water. On hearing their cries, others waded into the sea and rescued Shakthi. He was rushed to a hospital in Adyar, where he was declared ‘brought dead’.Praveen’s body,washed ashore at Kottivakkam beach, was recovered on Sunday evening, while Anand Bhushan’s body was found in the same area on Monday morning. Praveen’s father Gopal was employed at Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore. Shakthi’s father Dharmappa worked in a private company and Anand’s father Naga Bhushan was a postman. The bereaved family members arrived in the city and the bodies were handed over to them after a postmortem.
