Three persons were arrested for allegedly carrying skins of a leopard and two spotted deer from Magardarra railway station in the district on Monday, police said.
A team of forest officials apprehended the trio on a tip-off and seized from them the skins of a leopard and two spotted deer, collectively valued at Rs five lakh, they said.
The trio are identified as Parsadilal Kumhare (55), Shivpal Singh Marko (40), both residents of Kabirdham district Chhattisgarh and Panchram Padwar (36), of Seoni district, Madhya Pradesh, police said.
Police said the hides of the leopard is about five feet long while those of spotted deer about three feet in length.
The trio claimed they brought the skins of the wild animals from a person based in Kabeerdham district, police said.
A case under Wildlife Act has been registered against them in this regard, they added.
