If you are a senior citizen in Rajasthan, you might be thrilled at this exciting opportunity to visit pilgrimage sites in the country at zero train or air fare. The Rajasthan government has come up with a new scheme under which senior citizens in the state can go on pilgrimage by train or even by flight at zero travel charges. The train or plane fare will be borne by the state government.
The only condition set by the government is that the senior citizen should be a native of Rajasthan. The Devasthan Department has sought online applications for the Free Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme 2024. The state government intends to provide free pilgrimage to 36,000 senior citizens in the state.
Out of these applicants, the government will bear the train fare of 30,000 applicants and the plane fare of the remaining 6,000.
The quota for each district will be set after determining how many senior citizens are willing to undertake this free pilgrimage scheme from different districts.
Eligible senior citizens willing to go on pilgrimage can apply through the official website of the Devasthan Department till September 19. The senior citizens who have been selected for the pilgrimage last year do not need to apply again. The age of the applicants should be 60 years or more.
Under this scheme, senior citizens will be provided train journey to Rameswaram, Madurai, Jagannath Puri, Somnath, Prayagraj, Tirupati, Dwarkapuri, Vaishno Devi, Amritsar, Mathura- Vrindavan-Barsana Varanasi, Sammed Shikharji, Pavapuri, Baidyanath, Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Trimbakeshwar, Gangasagar, Kamakhya, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Ayodhya Mathura, Bihar Sharif and Velankanni Church. Senior citizens can also take a flight to Pashupatinath.
Senior citizens applying can get more information from the department’s website (https://edevasthan.rajasthan.gov.in/forms/home.aspx). In case of any problem in filling the application, they can also contact the Assistant Commissioner of Jaipur on the number 0141-2614404 for more information.
The schedule of trains will also be released by the department soon.
