Vidisha: A group of youths in Madhya Padesh’s Vidisha town celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan in a different way. Contrary to the age-old tradition of sisters tying Rakhi to their brothers’ wrists, the group tie it to railways bridges, tracks and even to railway equipment.
They say it’s done to pledge safety and security of railway passengers.
Rakhis were also tied to train loco pilots (drivers) and assistant loco pilots who passed through the station on the day.
The group has asked these staffers to promise the safety and security of the passengers. The ritual has been going on for the last few years.
