BANGALORE: The patchwork done on MV Jayaram Road has eased traffic and the commuter’s woes. The road was laden with potholes and hence made commuting on this road a matter of concern for one and all.City Express had published a report, ‘From residents to chicken all use the park’ on August 25, stating the condition here. The report mentioned the craters which ultimately lead to traffic jams and snail paced vehicular movement. The silt from the drain that had been removed has finally been cleared. Also, the park in the vicinity which was unkempt and had not been tended to in a long time also bares signs of maintenance now. However, the garbage dumped outside the park still lies there.Jayarama Road that connects Vasanthnagar and Palace Road with Jayamahal and Cantonment Railway Station does not have any potholes now. The potholes have been filled. ‘‘The road has been levelled now. I often use this road. Earlier it used to take 20 minutes to reach Cantonment Station from here but now I reach within 10 minutes. I am thankful to the authorities who eased our travel woes,” said  Ashraf, a motorist. The silt from the drain that was left along the footpath has also been cleared by the  Palike. Not only do the pedestrians have space to walk on, they also do not have to bear the stench that was emanating from the rotting waste that had been disposed in the drain. ‘‘Earlier there was hardly any space to walk. Garbage and filth were scattered all along the pavement. We were literally forced to walk on the road. However, now the situation is different. It is nice to see some clean and clear space to tread on when walking here,” said a resident on the condition of anonymity.Unfortunately, the reckless attitude of the residents however still prevails. While the Palike is attempting to do their best in keeping the area clean, the residents refuse to take notice or proceed with thought and caution. The park too seems to be in a much better condition than it was a while ago. Chandrashekar, the BBMP Horticulture superintendent East said “The area is cleared on a timely basis. We clear the area whenever we receive a complaint.’’ This makes one wonder if the park will only be cleaned if someone complains to the authorities about its filthy condition. He further clarified that he has assigned his officials to ensure that the park is maintained.
