Telangana Women Revive Unique Bangle Traditions For Good Luck
In Telangana, grandmothers pass on their bangles, clothes, and jewellery to their grandchildren.

Telangana is popularly known for its unique culture and traditions. In this age, where science and technology are advancing, many people are bringing new things to the fore, such as superstitions and customs. Today let’s take a look at the unique superstitious bangle tradition in Telangana.

As a part of this, there was a unique custom in Telangana where grandmothers passed on their bangles, clothes, and jewellery to their grandchildren. But they are not being followed now.

Meanwhile, there is another tradition that is followed by the women of Telangana. When the husband goes out, the wife will pray to Goddess Durga and offer bangles to make sure that their husband comes back safe. After the puja, the wife gifted the bangles to their relatives and neighbours.

Both of these rituals are superstitious now, taking into account these unique traditions, Siddhanta Sharma from Karimnagar Telangana clarified these customs. He shared in a recent media interaction that no one should follow all these rituals. If one wants to follow, they can, but it’s based on their perception. According to him, the ritual one follows should be limited to them. They should not stress them on others.

A few days ago, another fascinating custom gained momentum among women in Telangana, especially in Hyderabad, as the festive fervour for Sankranti approached.

Videos have gone viral depicting a peculiar practice wherein mothers with only one or a sole son are seen adorning bangles on both hands, supposedly after receiving money from mothers with two sons. The belief underlying this aims to avert misfortune and bestow good luck upon the only sons.

This tradition has led to a surge in women flocking to bangle stores, causing a significant spike in demand. “The trend has gained traction with women sharing their experiences on social media. Many others are embracing it for the well-being and prosperity of their sons,” said a woman, highlighting the widespread adoption of the custom.
