Techie held for defaming colleague

HYDERABAD: An employee of Dell was arrested on Friday for creating a fake profile of a woman colleague in a website with defamatory messages.The accused suspected the husband of his colleague had pasted similar defamatory profiles of his girlfriend in a social networking website.The arrested, Bandela Vishal alias Abhishek (23) is a technical analyst in Dell.According to police, Vishal created a fake profile of his colleague on www.locanto.com, a free classified site which also gives information about dating sites and pornographic content.“Vishal created a fake profile in the website by pasting the photo of his colleague (name withheld) with sexually suggestive messages to defame her,’’ Cyberabad Cyber Crime inspector K Srinivasa Rao said.According to the inspector, the victim and her husband are also employees of Dell.“Vishal had some misunderstanding with the complainant as his name was dragged in some issues by the latter,” Srinivasa Rao said.He added that Vishal suspected his colleague had created a fake profile defaming the character of his girlfriend in a site.“In the profile, he posted sexually suggestive content.For those wishing to call her, Vishal gave her husband’s mobile number,’’ Srinivasa Rao said.According to the sleuths, the complainant started to get phone calls from various persons ‘inquiring’ about his wife.
