Tamil Nadu police recently arrested a man after CCTV footage emerged of him brutally assaulting his 63-year-old father over a property dispute. The father recently died of a heart attack, leading to suspicions regarding the son’s involvement in his demise.
The assault took place in Krishnapuram in Perambalur district on February 16, when 40-year-old K Santhosh attacked his father A Kulandaivelu.
In the CCTV footage of the incident going viral on social media, Kulanthaivelu can be seen sitting at a settee before Santosh enters the frame and starts repeatedly punching his father. Soon another man enters the frame and takes Santosh away, shortly before Kulanthaivelu falls onto his side and appears to faint.

Initially, after the assault, Kulandaivelu had lodged a complaint against Santhosh, which he withdrew later.
Kulandaivelu passed away on April 18, following which his family then filed a complaint against Santhosh once again.
A case under Sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (Voluntarily hurting with a dangerous weapon), and 506(ii) (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code have been filed by police, following which Santosh was arrested on Thursday.
Meanwhile, police have also lodged a separate case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in connection with Kulandaivelu’s death and an autopsy was done at a government hospital in Perambalur.
