New Delhi: Bureaucrats interested in attending a month-long training programme in Bangkok have been asked by the government to submit a medical certificate confirming they are not suffering from AIDS or other infectious diseases.

The Department of Personnel and Training has invited applications preferably from senior-level officials who have command over spoken and written English and are in good health for international training course on "From sufficiency economy to wealthiness of the nation" to be held in Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand from November 2 to November 30.

Along with the application form, bureaucrats have to attach a medical report from an authorised physician confirming that they are physically and mentally capable to carry out intensive training away from home.

The medical report also has to mention that the person is free of infectious diseases like AIDS, tuberculosis, trachoma, skin diseases, etc., and pregnancy test for women officers, among others.

The applying organisations are expected to nominate those officers who are senior or middle level government officials with educational background in agriculture, economics, rural development, social environment and public policy with minimum five years of related work experience; have competent command over spoken and written English; must be in good health (both physically and mentally), the order sent to secretaries of all central government ministries said.

The training will cover an economy class round trip air ticket from the participants' nearest international airport to Bangkok, local training costs, accommodation during the training period, an allowance of 'Thai Baht 500' (about Rs 933) per day and life and health insurance for each participant during their stay in Thailand.

Bureaucrats interested in attending the programme have to give reasons for applying to the course and how they hope to benefit from the programme. The last date of sending application is Friday.
