HYDERABAD: An youngster’s plan to have a New Year bash in Goa with his friends made him land in prison. The student desperately wanted to join his friends this time after missing out last year and to get money for the trip stole valuables from a servant maid’s house. B Bhanuchander (21), is pursuing degree second year from Nagarjuna College at LB Nagar. His parents reside at Rakshapuram while Bhanuchander was staying along with his grandmother at Vinayak Nagar under Amberpet police limits. “Bhanuchander’s friends went to Goa last year to celebrate New Year but he missed out as he was not having money. This year he decided to steal money to fulfil his wish,” deputy commissioner of police (East Zone) Suhas Chaturvedi said.For this he targeted an elderly woman’s room who stays as a tenant. “The servant maid, K Dhanalakshmi secures all her jewellery with Bhanuchander’s grandmother. As there was some function in the family, the woman took her jewellery and kept it in her house. Bhanuchander broke into the house on December 8 morning and stole nine tola gold ornaments,’’ the DCP said. Bhanuchander wanted to dispose the stolen gold and join his friends on Goa trip.Meanwhile, three persons who committed chain snatching were arrested and gold ornaments worth `7 lakh were recovered.
