World's oldest woman, Misao Okawa of Japan, celebrated her 115th birthday recently surrounded by her family.
She was all smiles as she celebrated her 115th birthday at a nursing home in Osaka city of Japan. Misao Okawa, world's oldest woman, turned 115 on 5 March and celebrated it with her proud family members which included children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Speaking to the press in Japan, Okawa said she had never expected to live this long but had managed to do 'thanks to everybody'. Japan, known for its longevity of people, is now the home of the oldest man and woman in the world. Misao Okawa was born in 1898 and got married in 1919 and had three children, two of whom, in their 90s are still alive.
