THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The accord signed secretly between the Kerala Self-Financing Medical College Managements Association (KSFMCMA) and the State Government on Thursday did not specify the mode of admissions to self-financing medical colleges.Sources said that the agreement did not specify whether the admissions to management quota will be from the rank-list of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) or from the rank-list prepared on the basis of the entrance examinations conducted by the of Management Association. This is because a case relating to the validity of the entrance examination is pending before the High Court. The High Court which considered the case on Friday had further postponed it to Monday. One of the reasons for keeping the agreement a secret was the fear that it would be considered as sub judice. Moreover, the government was also thinking of making amendments to the agreement after the judgment in the case.Health Minister Adoor Prakash said the media reports that the State Government had signed an agreement with the medical college managements in a clandestine manner was false. He told reporters here on Friday that the government could not agree to all the demands of the medical college managements. The managements had sought a fees of Rs 4.5 lakh for all seats which was not acceptable to the government. The talks will continue with the managements to settle the issue, he said.Chief Minister Oommen Chandy also termed the reports on the signing of the agreement with medical college managements as a media creation. The KSFMCMA is learnt to have reached an agreement with the government on Thursday fixing uniform fees for both management and government quota seats except in seats reserved for BPL families.According to sources, as per the agreement the fees is Rs 25,000 for 20 percent seats in BPL category. The fees for 15 percent seats in the NRI quota will be Rs 9 lakh. The fees for all other seats, including government and management quotas will be Rs 4.5 lakh.
