School girl dies of suspected dengue

A 15-year-old girl, Anisha of Chinna Masoodhi Street in Saidapet, Vellore, and a Class 10 student, died of suspected dengue in Chennai.

Anisha was reportedly suffering from severe headache and fever. She was admitted to a private hospital in Vellore before being shifted to a private hospital in Chetpet in Chennai on September 21, where she died on Tuesday. The hospital report claimed that the girl had died due to dengue. Her father Mynudheen said the physicians in the hospital said that she had dengue and was being treated for the illness.

Deputy Director for Health services, A Somasundharam, said the report by the private hospital in Chennai was being investigated and the situation was being monitored in Vellore.In private and government hospitals, tests to rule out dengue were being conducted on patients complaining of fever. Several preventive measures had been taken in the district in this regard, he said.
