Sack Maran demand gathers speed

CHENNAI: The National Federation of Telecom Employees (BSNL) on Monday staged a demonstration in Chennai demanding Union Textile Minister Dayanidhi Maran be sacked for his alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum scam.C K Madhivanan, deputy general secretary of the federation, who led the demonstration said Maran had abused the post of Union telecom minister during his tenure and caused a huge loss of Rs 440 crore to BSNL.He said the letter from then BSNL general manager Meenalochiny that Maran used in his defence had been written under duress. Maran got the letter in 2009, when AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa raised the issue during the 2009 Parliamentary poll campaign. The CBI should also book senior BSNL officials who colluded with Maran, he said.
