HYDERABAD: Police on Thursday foiled the attempt of farmers to lay siege to chief minister's camp office in Begumpet demanding minimum support price for their produce. The farmer leaders who were proceeding to chief minister's camp office were arrested by the police near Begumpet railway station. Those arrested include MLA U Yadagiri Rao, K Ramakrishna, Teegala Krishna Reddy and others.Condemning the arrests, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said that on one hand the government was organising rytu chaitanya yatras and on the other it was arresting agitating farmers. This exposed the dual standards of the chief minister, Naidu alleged. The farmers alleged that the cotton price had come down to Rs 1,500 per quintal from Rs 7,000. Likewise, the chilli price was Rs 10,000  per quintal last year and it had come down to Rs 2,000 this year.
