HYDERABAD: If separate Telangana is a possibility in near future, then the people of Rayalaseema will demand a separate state for their region instead of being clubbed with Andhra, Rayalaseema leader and minister for minor irrigation TG Venkatesh has said.Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Thursday, Venkatesh said they had received an invitation from AICC general secretary in charge of state Ghulam Nabi Azad to discussions on the issue of state’s bifurcation. Rayalaseema Congress leaders will leave for New Delhi on Friday to participate in the meeting. They will present their views on the backwardness of Rayalaseema region which was acknowledged even by the Sri Krishna Committee in its report. If the central government agreed to provide special package for Telangana region, then they would demand a special package for the Rayalaseema region which was more backward than Telangana, he said. The minister said that Rayalaseema Aikya Vedika favoured unity of the state but if some people thought that all jobs and benefits were being cornered by Rayalaseema people, then it would be apt to create three capitals for three regions in the state so that the entire state could progress with three capitals.
