Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has asked government officials to hold public hearings frequently and redress people's grievances at the earliest.
Government employees should give up the tendency of keeping works pending, said Raje, who, along with her cabinet colleagues and senior officials, has been camping in the Bikaner division as part of the 'Sarkar Aapke Dwar'(government at your doorstep) campaign.
Holding a series of public hearings in several towns of Churu and Bikaner districts on Saturday, the Chief Minister said her government would give the best results to the people and to achieve this it has introduced the first-of-its-kind 'Sarkar Aapke Dwar' campaign. The governments used to hold public hearings earlier also, but the huge turnout of the complainants showed that the commoners did not get relief, she said, adding that although it would take some time to get rid of the practices prevalent since Independence, the results would follow.
Raje said the people have forgotten to complete their work in time. They have to change their habit, she said and stressed that a new mindset needed to be developed. "Only then the dream of a new Rajasthan will come true," she said. Be it the public representatives, officials or employees, extending relief to public should be the priority of all, she said.
Raje said quality should reflect in developmental works and there should be zero tolerance towards corruption. She suggested for maintenance of quality in road construction and fixing responsibility of the officials for poor quality works. She asked the district collectors for proper monitoring and regular quality check in construction works in the municipalities, municipal councils, corporations or panchayats in their districts.
During her visit to the Seth Surajmal Jalan Hospital at Sardarshahar in Churu, the Chief Minister was informed about the critical condition of a seven-month baby girl. She immediately asked the Principal Medical Officer of the hospital to attend to the girl instead of being with her.
Later, Raje visited the ward and met relatives of the baby. Raje inspected the entire hospital, talked to several patients and distributed cheques of the Janani Suraksha Yojana beneficiaries.
Later, she also visited the airstrip at Padihara village and the Taalchhapar Sanctuary in Churu district. She held a meeting with forest department officials and people's representatives over development of the sanctuary. She also offered prayers at Ichchapuran Balaji temple in Sardarshahar, according to an official release here.
Raje will be in Bikaner till Monday.
