Railways drive against boozers challenged

KOCHI: A petition has been filed before the Kerala High Court challenging the Southern Railway’s decision to impose a ban on drunk passengers inside trains and on platforms.The petitioner submitted that liquor consumption at permitted places is legal. The presence of a person on the Railway premises after having consumed alcohol is not an offence and action can be taken against persons only if they are in a state of ‘intoxication’, the petitioner said.
