BANGALORE: Announcing an initiative by Radio One to create a public forum of listeners who would assist in creating music lists for the station, Shyju Varkey, Station Head-Bangalore said, “We want to give our listeners the power to choose what they want to hear. An initiative such as this has never been taken up by any radio station or any other medium before.”Radio One plans on inviting 600 candidates who are well versed in Bollywood music to take part in a research study as representatives of listeners. The play list decided by them would be announced after the research has been completed. The aim behind this initiative is to make the station a platform for listeners to make their preferences known.M J Rakesh of Radio One said that the selection procedure would be completed in 2-3 weeks after which the selected listeners would be working with a research company yet to be decided upon in order to specify their music preferences.
