Probe sought into IIT-K student's death
After the mysterious death of an IIT-K student, the Director of IIT has sought a probe into the matter.

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) Director, S G Dhande on Thursday sought a probe into the mysterious death of a second year Mechanical Engineering student.

The body of 21-year old Swapnil Chandrakant, a second year student of B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, was found near cycle stand of the Engineering Faculty Building on Wednesday morning.

IIT-K Director said the postmortem report revealed the body bore severe internal injuries. "He might have jumped from a height," Prof Dhande added.

The entire academic committee expressed condolences on the sudden death of one of their meritorious students.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Chandrakant were cremated on the bank of river Ganga at Bithoor on Thursday.

Chandrakant's parents had arrived here from Nagpur and received the body from the institute administration.
