New Delhi: The second part of the investigation into Indian Navy Officer Commodore Sukhjinder Singh's alleged links with a Russian woman is in its final stages and the Defence Ministry is likely to announce the decision by next week.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Nirmal Verma said the enquiry was in its final stage but added that he would "not entertain public debate on it".
The first part of the investigation had established Commodore Singh's links with a Russian woman during his posting in Russia to oversee the refitting of aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov, which has been renamed INS Vikramaditya,
The Navy ordered an investigation after it received certain objectionable photographs of Commodore Singh with a Russian woman. The second part of the enquiry is on whether he compromised the aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov deal, and had any influence on the increase in price of the warship by Russia.
The Centre had on May 3 said the Navy was inquiring into the conduct of Commodore Singh.
Commodore Singh was posted as the Indian warship production superintendent overseeing Gorshkov's refit in Russia from 2005 to 2007.
Even after returning to India, he remained connected with the programme as the principal director (aircraft carrier project) at Navy headquarters till mid-2009.
