President Murmu’s Independence Day 2024 Speech LIVE Updates: President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation on Wednesday, the eve of the 78th Independence Day. This year, the theme for Independence Day is “Viksit Bharat”. The name has been decided keeping in mind the government’s vision to transform India into a developed country by 2047.

“I extend to you all my heartiest Independence Day greetings. I am delighted to see the nation prepare to celebrate the 78th Independence Day. Witnessing the tricolour unfurl on this occasion, be it at the Red Fort, at state capitals or in local neighbourhoods, always thrills our hearts,” she said in her address.

Highling the celebration of Independence Day as a festival, President Murmu said, “Just as we celebrate various festivals with our families, we celebrate our Independence Day and Republic Day with our family which comprises our fellow citizens. On the 15th of August, in all parts of the country and also abroad, Indians participate in the flag-hoisting ceremonies, sing patriotic songs, and distribute sweets.”

President Murmu Talks Of Sacrifices Made By Freedom Fighters

Addressing the nation, President Murmu talked about the tradition that interlinks the dreams of freedom fighters and the aspirations of future generations.

“We realise that we are part of a chain that binds the dreams of those who participated in the freedom struggle and the aspirations of those who will witness the nation regaining its full glory in the years to come. Realising that we are links of this chain of history is humbling. It makes us recall the days when the nation was under a foreign rule. Patriotic and brave souls took immense risks and made supreme sacrifices. We salute their memory,” she said.

The President further stated, “Just as we celebrate various festivals with our family, in the same way, we also celebrate our Independence Day and Republic Day with our family whose members are all our countrymen.”

President On Celebrating Birth Anniversary Of Bhagwan Birsa Munda

“We have started celebrating the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as Tribal Pride Day. The celebration of his 150th birth anniversary next year will be an opportunity to honour his contribution to the national renaissance in a more profound way,” President Murmu said while addressing the nation.

President Hails India’s G20 Presidency

After successfully completing its presidency of the G-20, India has strengthened its role as a vocal voice of the Global South. India wants to use its influential position to promote world peace and prosperity, President Droupadi Murmu said.

She further highlighted India’s growing economy and said, “It is a matter of pride for all of us that India has become the fifth largest economy of the world, and we are set to soon be among the top three economies of the world. This success has been possible only due to the tireless hard work of farmers and workers, far-sightedness of policy makers and entrepreneurs and the visionary leadership of the country.”
