ALAPPUZHA/THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Alappuzha/T’Puram: Prasobh Sugathan, the first accused in the hit-and-run case involving mv Prabhu Daya, was brought to Alappuzha by a police team led by DySP K Maheshkumar on Thursday.He will be produced before the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court in Ambalappuzha on Friday.Prasobh was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, after he fell off the ship. He was rescued by Sri Lankan fishermen. Later, Prasobh was admitted to the Navy Hospital in Trincomalee.The Sri Lankan authorities handed him over to the Indian High Commission officials in Trincomalee. He was brought to the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport around 9 am and was handed over to the Kerala Police, who took him to Alappuzha. The police team led by Alappuzha DySP and Amabalappuzha CI P V Baby interrogated Proshobh at the Police Club in Alappuzha. Prasobh’s father Sugathan had alleged that his son did not fall from the ship, but someone in the ship had attacked and thrown him into the sea. Sugathan had lodged a complaint with the Ambalappuzha police in this regard.Prasobh, 24, is a native of Ambalamukku in Thiruvananthapuram. Prasobh was the second officer of mv Prabhu Daya which hit a boat off Alappuzha killing five fishermen on March 1. The ship was later spotted near Sri Lanka and brought to Chennai.
