The second half of May is going to be very entertaining. Barring ‘Gabbar Singh’, there has been no big release in the first half, though it could not have been the case had not at least two big releases been pending. If the industry grapevine is to be believed, ML Kumar Chowdhary is all set to release ‘Adhinayakudu’ on the last day of this month. Some negotiations have been worked out, and if they turn to be positive, Balakrishna's film will hit the screens on May 31.
There will be a release on the previous day, and another film on the next day. ‘Adhinayakudu’ might be sandwiched between ‘Eega’, slated to be released on May 30, and ‘Endukante Premanta’, which is hitting the screens on June 1. Interestingly, the films belong to different genres.
The stakes on these films are high, with ‘Eega’ topping the list in terms of budget as well as hype around it. The very mention of SS Rajamouli's name conjures up the images of blockbusters, while the genre of his film has already caught the imagination of three South Indian states - AP, TN and Karnataka.
For Balakrishna, ‘Adhinayakudu’ is important for more than one reason. Get ready to watch some real-life political trappings in this long-languishing film. Remember it was scheduled to be released for Sankranthi. Will Balayya make a political statement? Keep waiting!
Endukante is admittedly the biggest release for Ram. If ‘Rachcha’, ‘Dammu’, ‘Gabbar Singh’ and ‘Adhinayakudu’ are for the mass audience, this "coolest summer flick" (to quote Ram) is for the lovers of romantic cinema. The trailers impel us to expect more from Karunakaran, Ram and Tamanna this time.
