PUDUCHERRY: The police on Monday night foiled an attempt to steal a car belonging to a Vellore-based broiler chicken unit owner. Three unidentified men abandoned the car and fled after the police on patrol duty traced the vehicle.Senior SP (Law and Order) V J Chandran said Daniel came to Puducherry in his new car along with his friend Mahendran, and a car driver to check a few places to set up meat shops. Three unidentified persons who approached them near a hotel on 100-ft road on Monday night to repair their car attacked them and fled with the car. They took Daniel as hostage and were driving towards Tindivanam. When police traced them they attacked Daniel and abandoned the car and fled.
