Mumbai: After reviewing the security arrangements at Wankhede stadium ahead of Saturday's World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka, Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil on Thursday said all security measures had been taken to ensure that no untoward incident happens, and at least 3,000 policemen have been deployed.
"I have reviewed the security arrangements made in co-ordination with Maharashtra and Central governments. The arrangements would be supervised by Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik. We have taken all the measures to ensure that everything goes well," Patil said.
He said airspace over and around stadium had been declared as 'No Flying Zone'.
Apart from Mumbai police, teams of National Security Guards, Maharashtra's elite Force One, Rapid Action Force, State Reserve Police Force and Quick Response Team are a part of the security, he said.
"Over 3,000 policemen would be there at the ground on the day of the match."
Patil appealed to ticket-less crowds not to gather outside the stadium to avoid inconvenience.
"All the tickets have been sold. I appeal to people not to crowd outside the stadium unnecessarily, and co-operate with the police," he said, adding, "Police are taking all measures to avoid black-marketing of tickets."
Asked about the terror threat to the match, Patil said, "We are keeping a watch on it."
