New Delhi: India's Leander Paes had bitten dust in the men's doubles with Martin Damm but won his opening encounter in the mixed doubles with Samantha Stosur on Wednesday.
The Indian, along with Australian Stosur Chris Haggard of South Africa and Eleni Danilidou of Greece in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
The Indo-Aussie pair now play Daniel Nestor of Canada and Elena Likhotseva of Russia in the second round.
