BANGALORE: From this academic year, BCA students from the Bangalore University (BU) can view their complete answerscripts and written answers online. In a firstofitskind move, the varsity has introduced online digital evaluation on a pilot basis. It will soon be extended to other courses as well.
"Under this system, all the answerscripts received from examination centres will be scanned and stored on computers at the notified evaluation centre. During the evaluation, relevant question paper will also appear on the left side of the computer screen," said BU Vice Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev.All relevant information about the evaluators would be registered and they would be allotted a code number, based on which the system would transfer the scanned scripts to the identified evaluator on through course, semester and subject wise. "If an evaluator assigns more marks than prescribed or doesn't assign anything, the computer will warn the evaluator. It will also total the marks assigned by the evaluator," said Dev, adding that the idea was to bring in transparency and maintain confidentiality in the evaluation process.
