BHUBANESWAR: Renowned Odissi danseuse Geeta Mahalik performed at the Bharat Muni Festival organised by Kalingayana Touryatrikam at Rabindra Mandap.Based in Delhi, she had come down to the city, specially for the performance. She performed an Odiya Abhinaya written by Sumanta Mohanty and Rupleela by Santh Sur Das. Both the performances were choreographed by Mahalik herself. Her spell binding performance was preceded by a Pushpanjali offered to the Gods. The Odiya Abhinaya was about Radha asking her friends if Lord Krishna would come to see her.Rupleela was about Lord Krishna complaining to Yashodha that Balaram was teasing him that Krishna was not her own son. It was a beautifully choreographed piece that also showcased the duel between Krishna and five headed snake demon.The performers were felicitated by Music Circle secretary Mohendra Mishra. Odissi vocalist Bijay Jena, Kuchipudi dancer D.Anandshankar Jayanta, Odissi dancer Ratikanta Mahapatra and flutist Ronu Majumdar  also performed at the function. Revenue Information and Public Relation Minister Suryanarayan Patra was also present at the event.
