PUDUCHERRY: Close on the heels of the hike in private bus fare, residents of the Union Territory have to contend with shelling out more for Ponlait (Pondicherry Cooperative Milk Producers Union) milk products following a hike in their prices. A cup of hot milk which cost Rs 7 earlier now costs Rs 8, the price of the popular Paal Khoa goes up from Rs 16 to Rs 18.Ghee is priced at Rs 280 per litre compared to its previous price of Rs 270 per litre.However, there is no change in price with regard to Ponlait’s yellow and blue milk packets. Ponlait, has come out with a green packet, priced at Rs 13 and containing less fat.Another favourite of customers - flavoured milk - will cost Rs 15 per bottle (earlier it was Rs 14). The price of lassi has also been hiked from Rs 9 to Rs 10. A packet of 200 ml curd will cost Rs 14. Icecream per kilo will cost Rs 110 as against the previous Rs 92.The prices have come into effect from July 1.
