Nityananda to sit, pray near fire for 'penance'
He would perform 'pancha tapasya' from 6 am to 8 pm daily for some days.

Ramanagara: Self-styled godman Swami Nityananda, released on bail after remaining in jail for 53 days on rape and other criminal charges, will now resort to a 'penance' by meditating in his Bidadi ashram from Sunday.

"Nityananda will undertake 'pancha tapasya' in which he will sit and pray with the fire set around him for about three feet height," a spokesman of the ashram, who declined to be named, told PTI here.

He would perform 'pancha tapasya' from 6 am to 8 pm daily for some days.

"This is for cleansing the negativity that has gripped and for world peace," the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, a source in the ashram said soon after his release from the jail and upon reaching the ashram, Nityananda performed pooja at the Anandeshwari temple.

The Karnataka High Court while granting bail to Nityananda Friday, barred him from undertaking any preaching.

There was cheer among the devotees as they welcomed Nityananda at the ashram.
