Closing in on the assailants who killed National Investigation Agency officer Tanzil Ahmed, the Uttar Pradesh Police has accessed a video footage of the wedding that the officer attended before he was shot dead. After scanning the footage, the police have zeroed in on two young men who they claim could be the killers.

The police are hoping that they will have some concrete leads in the case soon. "We are looking at all angles, including terror angle, hopefully in the next 48 hours we will have something concrete," said Javeed Ahmad, the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police.

He mentioned that two weapons were used to attack the NIA officer including a 9 mm pistol which is a banned firearm. "A .32 bore weapon and a 9 mm pistol were used by the assailants," he said.

Meanwhile, the officer's family has not been able to identify the killers. The officer's wife also sustained injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment. His two children were also in the car at the time of the attack, but they escaped unhurt.

Recalling the horror, Tanzil's daughter claimed, "There were two people on a motorcycle. They shot at my father and when they exhausted all their bullets, they reloaded the gun and shot at him again. They stopped near the car for three/four minutes and then went away."

The incident took place when Ahmed, earlier posted as an assistant commandant in BSF and on deputation to NIA, was returning to his home in Sahaspur village of Bijnor district with his family after attending his niece's wedding in a nearby village in the same district. Bijnor is about 150 kms from Delhi.
