New drain to ease woes of Chetpet

CHENNAI: Municipal Administration minister K P Munusamy on Thursday announced that the Corporation would soon build a storm water drain as a permanent solution to prevent rainwater from the Chetpet lake, from overflowing.“By constructing the new link, surplus rainwater would flow into the Cooum,” he told reporters here, after inspecting the ongoing draining work at the lake with Fisheries minister K A Jeyapal, Mayor Saidai S Duraisamy and Corporation Commissioner D Karthikeyan. The proposed two-km long link of the storm water drain system, would extend from the lake to Harrington Road.
