Need for separate Art University: Shettar

HUBLI: RDPR and Hubli District Minister Jagadish Shettar said all efforts would be made to establish a separate university to promote art and preserve cultural.He was speaking after inaugurating the three-day national sculpture and painting exhibition at Vijay Mahantesh Fine Arts College on Friday. Shettar said the state had established universities in Bagalkot, Belgaum and Davangere and we need to establish a separate university for fine arts. He promised to help set up an art university and would speak to the CM in this regard.MP Prahlad Joshi said that fine arts was an effective medium to express one’s inner feelings. Music, dance, literature and other forms of arts are an integral part of our society, he said. But, fine arts has not received due recognition, he lamented. Fine Arts Sub Committee chairman B Maruthi presided over the event. About 21 paintings and 15 sculptures were displayed at the exhibition.
