Gen Ziauddin Butt said that Osama was kept in Abbotabad under instructions from then director of the IB Brig Ijaz Shah.

New Delhi: Former chief of Pakistani Army Gen Ziauddin Butt has told Dawn News that Osama bin Laden was kept in an Intelligence Bureau (IB) safe house in Abbotabad and former president General Pervez Musharraf knew about it.

Butt also said that Osama was kept there under instructions from then director of the IB Brig Ijaz Shah.

Brig Shah is also responsible for hiding Omar Saeed Sheikh who killed journalist Daniel Pearl, said Butt.

Butt expressed his apprehension that since the then president Musharraf knew about it, his successor as Army chief, Gen Kayani may have also known about the whereabouts of Osama.

Gen Butt also says the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif had set up a 90 man commando team to track and kill Osama, but he was overthrown by Musharraf and the team was disbanded.
