Maharashtra government promises to file cases against guards.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government will file cases against security guards of embattled IPL commissioner Lalit Modi for physically assaulting journalists, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan told the Assembly on Wednesday.

“When Lalit Modi arrived in Mumbai yesterday (Tuesday), the media had gone to cover him. But, the security guards attacked the journalists. Attacks on media are becoming a routine affair and despite assurances that such incidents will be made non-bailable, the government is not taking any action," said Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse.

Khadse gave a CD to Speaker Dilip Walse Patil as a proof.

Chavan said he had spoken to state Home Minister R R Patil about the issue. "He told me that the private security guards had assaulted the journalists and cases would be filed against them," Chavan said.
